This recipe is in an old family cookbook called Gems From Pennsylvania Kitchens. It was compiled by the Local Activities Society of Eldersville Methodist Church in Eldersville, PA. Most of the women in the cookbook are related to me through my great grandmother and great grandfather. I'm not sure how old the book is, but it belonged to my great grandma, my grandmother, my mother and now me (and I'm 31).

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup of good thoughts
  • 3 cups sacrifice
  • 3 cups forgiveness
  • 1 cup of kind actions
  • 1 cup consideration
  • 2 cups of one's own faults, well beaten

DIRECTIONS

Mix ingredients thoroughly and add tears of joy, sorrow and sympathy. Sprinkle liberally with love and service to others. Fold in one cup each of prayers, faith and enthusiasm. Spread mixture into daily life. Blend well with human kindness. Serve with a smile!
This recipe will satisfy the hunger of many people less fortunate than yourself.
