Gammy's Bread Pudding
I absolutely love bread pudding! This is an old family recipe.
1/2 gallon milk
1 1/3 cups sugar
3 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 loaf of bread (long loaf)
Beat the first 4 ingredients together. Pour into a GLASS baking dish
(approx. 18" long, 2" high and 8" wide). Cut the bread into 2"x2"
squares. Put two layers of bread squares on top of mixed ingredients.
Melt some butter and brush on the top of the bread with a pastry brush.
Sprinkle nutmeg on top. Bake at 400 for 1 hour.
Be sure to not overcook. It should be creamy.
