5 Bean Soup

- for the crockpot, but not necessarily.

This is called a soup but is more like a stew. This uses 5 cans of any kinds of beans, making sure that 1 of them is baked beans. We always used baked beans, chickpeas, kidney beans and whatever else is in the pantry.

Open cans and dump entire contents into crockpot... do NOT drain!
Add 1 pound pre-cooked ground meat - I used ground turkey. Add 1 chopped onion if desired (I omit this). Add 1 tablespoon each of honey and dijon mustard. Stir, cover and cook on low for the day.

Is very similar to chili, but not with the spicy taste. It's also easy to add "extras" such as leftover rice, a can of corn, etc. It's a very flexible recipe. My kids love it! A nice loaf of bread, cornbread and/or salad goes well.
