Apple Butter

I just picked 60 apples, so this is what I'm making . . . 

5 1/2 pounds apples - I use a couple different kinds at one time.
4 cups sugar - I usually use a bit less.
2-3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt

Pour all into the crockpot (or dutch oven). Mix thoroughly. Cook on high for 1 hour. Decrease heat to low. Cook for 9-11 more hours until dark and thick, stirring occasionally. Uncover and cook on low 1 more hour. YUM!!! I usually spoon into freezer containers, let cool and freeze until I need.
